Hearth, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has received a Cummings Foundation $100K for 100 grant which will provide general operating support for Hearth's mission of ending homelessness among the elderly.
The three-year $100,000 grant will help fund services available in Hearth's 188 units of supportive housing for seniors, its efforts to create more housing, and the Hearth Outreach Program. The Outreach Program annually works to place their over 275 homeless clients, and another 50 who are at risk of homelessness, into affordable, permanent housing and connect them with the services necessary to succeed in that housing.
Formerly homeless elders are a particularly vulnerable population, and the transition back into stable housing - and ability to maintain that housing - can often be challenging without appropriate support. While some of the services Hearth provides in its housing are covered by public programs, there are many residents who do not qualify for those programs but require a lot of support and assistance from Hearth staff.

The Cummings Foundation, Inc. (CFI), is a private operating foundation based in Woburn, Massachusetts. Since its establishment in 1986, it has been funded primarily by Joyce and Bill Cummings of Winchester, MA. Each year, Cummings Foundation awards grants of $100,000 each to 100 local nonprofits. This $10 million in funding supports a diverse range of causes, including human services, education, healthcare, and social justice.
